February Parish Council News Roundup
2023/2024 Precept
The Parish Council held their meeting in January to discuss their budgets for 2023/24 and to set the precept. Cllrs gave careful consideration to this process, taking into account there was no increase in the precept in 2022/23 and the economic crisis the country is in, it was a difficult task.
To help reduce the impact of a higher-than-expected precept Councillors approved a transfer of £1500 from earmarked reserves (£1000 from IT equipment and £500 from repairs and renewals). The Parish Council made a difficult decision and finally approved an increase of 15.91% taking the precept to £27353.
Park Street New Development Road Name
In May 2019 SGC contacted the Parish Council to allocate a name for the new road, the following meeting the Parish Council approved the name "St Wulfstan Close". St Mary's Church, Hawkesbury has a stained glass window to celebrate the life of Wulfstan, who was a priest at Hawkesbury.
